Trzebiez has been populated with farmers and fishermen skilled at boat reparations. The port was established already in the late eighteenth century. The construction of water route Szczecin SwinoujScie was started in 1875 and the port and Szczecin were linked by rail line completed in 1910, which contributed to industrial growth and further development of the port.
