Police is encircled with a bend of the Larpia river linking Ciesnica in the west with Nurt Policki and Jasienica in the north. Its waters flow by a broad island where hop was grown and haymaking took place. The only wooden bridge, replaced by a steel drawbridge in 1929, crossed to the island. Two villages, Czapliniec (Enge Oder Krug) and Szaniec (Schanze) were set on the riversides.
