The construction of the synthetic petrol
plant started north of Police in March of 1938. It covered
the area of 15 million square metres, 2 million of which
were taken up by the dense buildings. Since September
of 1940 the allied air force intensively bombarded the
plant, which culminated in its complete demolition on
08.02.1945. Subsequently, the plant was incorporated
in so called Police Enclave after the Russian army marched
into the town. The machines and other pieces of equipment
were disassembled and transported into the depths of
Soviet Union.
