The now non existing timber framed wooden church built at the end of the seventeenth century was ringed with ancient elm trees. It boasted a wooden sculptured altar decorated with oil paintings. The photograph portrays the oldest elm tree that had been labelled for protection by the Forest Lovers' Association in 1913.
